The user can choose to set a status for their chat. Status options include available, busy, offline and invisible. User can access a built in note pad, calendars and manage contact lists through their Yahoo Mail dashboard. Mobile mail features allow users to provide their mobile phone number to access the Yahoo mobile friendly site. How does the web app look and feel to use?

Yahoo Mail looks much like any other typical email application. The user can find their folders listed along the left side, just above a solid blue chat and mobile text tool. The center and right side of the page lists the user’s inbox messages with the recipient, subject, date and size. The site also includes advertisements, which are primarily positioned at the top and sides of the page.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can create a Yahoo account by clicking the blue “Sign In” link in the upper, right hand corner of the Yahoo homepage. The user can click either the Facebook or Google buttons found along the right hand side of the following page or the “Create New Account” button found below them. The Yahoo registration form asks for a first and last name, gender, date of birth, country location, postal code, desired Yahoo email address, password, two security questions and answers as well as an optional alternative email address.

What does it cost to use the application?

Yahoo Mail is available to all users for free. There are no charges associated with using Yahoo’s email service. The user is given access to all current features, including instant messaging and mobile functions. This helps to keep Yahoo Mail appealing to the users, who could choose from one of a number of other free email applications.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Yahoo Mail is ideal for anyone who needs a new email address. The service is free and includes a number of popular features, such as the chat function. It is especially helpful for users who know others who use Yahoo. The user’s Yahoo account will also give them access to other applications offered by the company.
